Survival Gardening
Survival Gardening InformationsIt is possible to have a healthy garden with even ten to twelve hours of sunlight, but the type of plants must be adaptable. The next thing you will want to do is choose a site. Avoid areas that have rocky soil, steep slopes, or areas where water stands. While soil can always be improved, a site with good soil is a plus. In hot climates it is a good idea to choose a place that will have shade from a part of the intense afternoon sun. Try and stay away from large trees that will take your plants water and nutrients, and at least three feet from any fences or buildings. Gardening must be done in an area that gets at least six hours of sunlight. When talking about house plants, there is no need to worry. So if you're working on building a garden, use and reference you can (the library, the internet, and magazines) to look in to some of the factors I've mentioned. Many people worry a lot when it comes to caring for their plants. Survival Gardening Tips and AdviceSome plants require re-potting for optimum growth but there are others that resent having their roots disturbed. Tap the pot to release the plant and check its roots. One way to check if your plant needs re-potting is to turn it upside down. If roots are all you see, then re-pot. Or their roots system may be small enough that they don't require re-potting. Sometimes the roots will come out of the pot. You should either cut them off or re-pot the plant. So usually you will want to choose between metal and wood. Choosing a border is actually a fairly important step in getting your garden started. If you're looking for a more modern look, you can obtain some metal lining at your local home improvement store for rather cheap, and installation is medium difficulty. You can stack up boards around the perimeter of your garden, and give it a rather nice cabin look. It might not actually affect the well-being of the plants, but having a garden is a fairly aesthetic ordeal for many people anyways. Survival Gardening Solutions
